MCGOWAN, JAMES,
Executive Director of Off Campus Administration
Adelphi University
James has been with Adelphi University since 2002. He provides supervision and academic oversight to the University’s extension centers and off campus programs, including the Manhattan Center, Hauppauge Center, Hudson Valley Center, Huntington Chamber of Commerce MBA program, Catholic Health Services MBA programs, and several others. Jim is determined to make AdelphiUniversity more visible in the community as well as becoming a contributor to partnerships in business, education, health care and human services. He is an active member of the Hauppauge Industrial Association, Long Island Association, Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, Queens Chamber of Commerce and Greater New York Chamber of Commerce. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the MacArthur Business Alliance and the Huntington Chamber of Commerce as well as being a former Trustee for the Long Island Works Coalition. Prior to working at Adelphi, Jim worked for Mercy College in Westchester County for over 15 years as Manager of Operations for Extension Centers. Jim has worked previously for the US Dept of Health and Human Services and EEOC as well as over 10 years as a Ground Service Supervisor for British Airways.
Linn Cartagena
Associate Director of Suffolk Center
Adelphi University
As Associate Director of Suffolk Centers for Adelphi University, Linn Cartagena aims to expand and develop business education on Long Island. She oversees the centers’ daily operations and maintains partnerships with local community colleges while establishing new and innovative programs to best fit students’ needs and career objectives. Linn has been instrumental in organizing and implementing seamless advanced degree programs in Suffolk County, such as Adelphi University’s R.N. to B.S.N. program for nursing and their B.B.A. to M.B.A program for both accounting and management. Her passion and support for small businesses stem from her diverse first-hand experiences with small businesses. Prior to her career at Adelphi University, Linn has worked in the marketing and advertising industry, law firms, retail establishments, and many others. As an academic advisor for the Long Island Advancement of Small Businesses, Linn hopes to serve as resource for both business education and business development and growth on Long Island.
